XML programming is used to store data in a worldwide used structured form and to send information through the Internet using the same structure. Also AJAX Programming is using the XML programming language.
XML programming is an easier form of SGML, Standard Generalized Markup Language.
The structure of information is what makes XML files so important. Thanks to the clear structure, exchange of data becomes much easier. The largest difference between XML and HTML is that HTML is made to present the information but not to describe what´s the meaning of the information.
